Description

Job holders in this unit group carry out a variety of technical health support functions not elsewhere classified in MINOR GROUP 321: Health Associate Professionals.

Tasks

  • Provides information, support and advice on diet
  • Counsels people on their problems, feelings and dealing with stress
  • Provides information, support and advice on healthy living and helps people develop healthier lifestyles
  • Teaches parents about pregnancy, delivery and early parenthood
  • Examines horses’ teeth for health problems and provides dental treatments which do not need to be provided by a vet

Educational Requirements

Entry is possible with a variety of academic and vocational qualifications. Professional qualifications are also available in some areas. Courses provide a mixture of theoretical study and practical experience. Membership of professional bodies may be mandatory in some areas.
