Choosing to study at Wirral Met College is the first step towards your future career. Our courses are designed with employers and industry experts to help you gain the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to move on to university, an apprenticeship or employment.

If you’re aged 16–19 (or up to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan), you’ll take part in a full-time Study Programme. This combines your main qualification with English and maths, valuable work experience, and a wide range of enrichment opportunities.

Your Study Programme is designed to help you develop both personally and professionally, so you’ll leave college confident, capable and ready to take your next step.

English and Maths

English and maths are important life skills that will help you to succeed in your education, career and everyday life.

If you haven’t yet achieved a Grade 4 in GCSE English or maths, you’ll continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme, with support from our dedicated tutors to help you reach this level.

Work Experience

All learners on a study programme take part in a work experience placement, giving you practical insight, workplace skills and real-world readiness.

Enrichment and personal development 

You’ll have a dedicated Pastoral Coach for tutorial sessions on wellbeing, personal growth and next steps, plus activities, trips and experiences that build confidence, teamwork and communication skills.
