Enrichment is a key part of your college experience. During your time with us, you’ll take part in a variety of activities that shape your personal growth and future career. Our enrichment programme helps you thrive beyond the classroom, connect with new people, and develop skills that make you stand out.

Work Experience

Work experience is an essential part of every Study Programme. Each student takes part in a placement that provides real-world insight, builds workplace skills, and prepares you for life after college. It’s a valuable opportunity to gain confidence, develop practical experience, and stand out to employers or universities.

Clubs & Societies

We have a variety of clubs which change every year based on our students’ interests. Getting involved with our clubs and societies is a great way to make new friends outside of your course, learn new skills, and discover new hobbies. This year’s clubs include Football, Boxing, Dance classes, Dungeons and Dragons, LGBTQ+ Society and Warhammer Painting, plus much more! Love something outside of college?

Trips, Visits & Experiences

Learning at Wirral Met goes far beyond the classroom. You’ll have the chance to take part in a wide range of trips, visits and activities that make your time here unforgettable and help you grow both personally and professionally. Our course-related visits bring your learning to life – from touring leading employers and industry sites to exploring exhibitions and national events. These experiences give you a real insight into your chosen career, helping you build confidence, gain new perspectives and make valuable connections for the future. It’s not all about study, though. You’ll also enjoy a variety of social and cultural trips with classmates – from adventure activities and theme park days to visits that inspire creativity and broaden your horizons.

Oversees Opportunities

For some students, the learning adventure goes even further. Through our partnership with the Turing Scheme, you could take part in incredible overseas experiences, gaining hands-on work placements and cultural insight in destinations such as Portugal, South Africa and Bali. These life-changing opportunities help you develop new skills, experience different cultures, and stand out to future employers with international experience on your CV. Whether you’re gaining professional experience abroad, contributing to community projects, or exploring new environments, you’ll build confidence, independence and memories that last a lifetime.

Skills Showcases

Competitions are an exciting part of life at Wirral Met, giving you the chance to put your skills to the test, gain hands-on experience, and show what you’re capable of on a regional, national and even international stage. Across many subject areas, students take part in industry-recognised competitions that help them develop confidence, creativity and teamwork – all while gaining feedback from employers and industry experts.

Volunteering and Community Work

We believe education should benefit not just our students, but the wider community too. That’s why community projects are embedded into many of our courses - giving students the chance to apply their skills in meaningful, real-world ways.

From supporting local schools to working with healthcare providers, these projects help students build confidence, develop teamwork, and make a real difference in people’s lives.
