What is a Study Programme?
All learners aged 16–19 (or up to 24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan), will follow a Study Programme - a tailor-made package of learning designed to set learners up for their next step. This includes:
- Timetabled English & Maths lessons – leading to compulsory GCSE re-sits for learners who haven’t achieved a grade 4.
- Work experience placement
- A dedicated Pastoral Coach– who delivers weekly Personal Development sessions
- A wide range of enrichment opportunities – including trips, guest speakers and an active Students’ Union

The Importance of English & Maths
English and maths are essential skills for success. Many jobs and further study courses require students to have a Grade 4 or above, so achieving these qualifications is a key part of our Study Programmes. For students who haven’t yet reached this level, English and maths are built into their timetable, and resit opportunities are provided at college. We rely on parents and carers to support students by encouraging attendance at these sessions and exams, helping them develop the skills they need to progress in education and their future careers.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Support
Many young people face mental health challenges that can create barriers to learning. We aim to reduce these barriers by providing tailored support to help students succeed academically and personally.
Students have access to Mental Health Officers, counsellors, and a dedicated Pastoral Coach who can provide guidance and signpost them to the right services. Our support helps students build resilience, manage stress, and thrive both academically and personally.

Additional Learning Support
We are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive environment where every learner can thrive. If your child has additional learning needs, they will receive a confidential assessment from a specialist tutor to accurately determine the specific support required.
We offer a wide range of tailored support, which can include assistance directly in class, help with developing essential study skills, and specific arrangements for exams. We regularly review and adapt these additional support plans to ensure they consistently meet your young person's changing needs throughout their time with us. Our goal is to empower all learners to achieve their full potential with confidence.

Personal Development
Our comprehensive Personal Development Programme is designed to build the essential life skills, confidence, and resilience your young person needs to thrive. Every student is supported by a dedicated Pastoral Mentor, who serves as their key point of contact for tailored guidance throughout the year. This coaching is delivered through engaging weekly tutorial sessions that cover topics crucial for both their personal and professional wellbeing, including mental health awareness, financial literacy, and career readiness. Furthermore, we strongly encourage participation in our diverse enrichment activities, which are a great way for them to develop new interests, build a strong peer network, and gain valuable experience outside of the classroom.
Stay Connected and Informed
We value the partnership we have with parents, carers, and guardians. Through our dedicated Parents Portal, regular updates, and key events, you’ll always be kept informed about college life, important dates, and your young person's progress.
If you ever have questions or concerns, our friendly team is ready to help. Whether by phone or email, we encourage you to get in touch so we can support you and your child together.
