This Level 3 Award is designed for individuals working in or aspiring to work in the automotive industry, specifically focusing on refrigerant handling. The course equips you with the skills and knowledge required to safely and effectively work with automotive air conditioning systems, in compliance with current regulations.

  • Course Details

    Taught in our purpose-built automotive workshops at our Twelve Quays campus:

    • Identifying Refrigerants: Learn to identify different types of refrigerants used in automotive air conditioning systems.
    • Safe Handling Practices: Understand the health and safety practices required when working with refrigerants.
    • System Operation: Gain knowledge of the operation of air conditioning systems and their components.
    • Environmental Impact: Learn about the environmental impact of fluorinated greenhouse gases and how to minimize it.
    • Recovery and Recycling: Understand the procedures for recovering, recycling, and disposing of refrigerants.
  • Entry Guidelines

    Basic literacy and numeracy skills. Some prior knowledge or experience in the automotive industry is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Where can I progress to?

    Upon completion of this course, you will have the expertise to carry out work involving air conditioning refrigerants within the automotive industry.
  • Equipment Required

    You will be required to wear personal protective equipment i.e steel toe capped boots.This will incur an additional cost.
