Looking to get started in carpentry and joinery but don't have any experience? The Aspiring Professional in Carpentry and Joinery course is designed just for you.
It's the perfect introduction to the trade, giving you the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to grow your confidence and begin your journey toward becoming a first-class tradesperson.
You'll learn how to construct, install, and repair a variety of wooden structures and fittings — from doors and windows to framework and more — setting the groundwork for a successful career in the industry.
You will study:
- Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
- Knowledge of construction technology
- Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
- Maintain and use carpentry and joinery hand tools
- Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools
- Produce woodworking joints
3 days per week incorpating maths, Engliah, work experience and tutorial.
This is a Study Programme for students aged 16-18 years.
If you are yet to gain any formal qualifications (e.g. GCSE's) you will be enrolled onto our Aspiring Professionals Programme which is perfect for progression to further study at level 2 or alternatively an apprenticeship route into employment.
Basic levels of literacy and numeracy are required for you to study at this level (grade 2 or below in English/Maths)

- Work boots

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
