Your Application Process Explained

Aged 16-18?


Make your application

The start of your Wirral Met journey! Once your application is submitted, our team will aim to process it within 48 hours during our working week. We offer all young people aged 16- 18 a guaranteed place on a course as long as we can meet your needs.

Join a Welcome Event

You will be invited to a Welcome Event by email. This is your first opportunity to meet your tutors, discuss your chosen course and ensure you are on the right level. It’s also your chance to ask any questions, discuss any learning support requirements and find out about student financial support. If you can’t attend your Welcome Event, please let us know so we can schedule an alternative date.

Receive your Offer Letter

After you have attended a Welcome Event, you will receive a formal offer via post. This letter will explain the grades you need to get on to the course. To accept this offer and secure your place at Wirral Met, simply follow the instructions in the letter.

Keep in Touch (KIT) Day

Before enrolment, you will join a KIT day alongside other students on your course. This will cover everything you need to know about equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), uniforms (if applicable) and what you need to do next for your course!

Invitation to Enrolment

During August, you will be sent an invitation to finalise your enrolment. Here we will need to see proof of your GCSE results. You will be given your Wirral Met College student ID, timetable and given your official start date! Our support teams will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Your first day at College

Your life as a College student begins! Your first week will include lots of exciting activities to introduce you to your course and career pathway.

Interview

You will be invited to an interview by email, this usually takes place on-campus or by telephone. Don’t panic – this is our opportunity to get to know you and give you a chance to find out more about us. If you can’t attend your Interview, please let us know so we can schedule an alternative date.

Subject to successful Interview, you will receive a formal offer via email. To accept this offer and secure your place at Wirral Met, simply follow the instructions in the email.

Invitation to Enrolment

During August, you will be sent an invitation to enrol. As part of the enrolment process, you will need to provide proof of your qualifications and may be asked to provide evidence to assess your fee-paying status. You will be given your Wirral Met College student ID, timetable and given your official start date! Our support teams will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Your first day at College

Your life as a College student begins! Your first week will include an induction to your course and the opportunity to explore our specialist facilities related to your studies.
