This course is accredited by University of the Arts London (UAL). The course is designed to enable you to learn through discovery and exploration; this is primarily achieved through your engagement with projects and lectures. The course is essentially a transitional experience in Art, Design and Communication preparing you for either a place in higher education or employment.

  • Course Details

This exciting one-year course is designed to prepare students for higher education within their chosen creative pathway. It provides a supportive yet challenging environment to develop skills, confidence and a strong portfolio for university progression.

The course begins with a diagnostic phase, where students explore a wide range of creative disciplines including graphics and illustration, fashion and textiles, 3D design, and fine art. This exploratory approach allows students to experiment, take risks and discover their strengths before progressing into a specialist pathway aligned with their interests and career goals.

As the course develops, students move into more focused and independent study, creating personal projects that reflect their individual creative direction. Emphasis is placed on idea development, experimentation, critical thinking and the production of resolved outcomes.

The programme is structured into three key units:

    • Unit 1: Diagnostic Investigation into Creative Practice
    • Unit 2: Developing Specialist Practice
    • Unit 3: Consolidating Practice
