  • Course Details

    The course focuses on practical activities and is for students wanting to follow a vocational programme in either Music Production or Music Performance.

    You will study and develop skills in the processes involved in organising and being part of music performances, developing as an artist, music theory, composition and singing.

    You will be encouraged to learn additional instruments to your first study instrument and perform in College and at venues in and around Wirral.

    Although the emphasis is on practical assignments, you will need to complete written assessments in the form of evaluative log books and rehearsal diaries and contextual and business studies. Students must be able to perform.

  • Entry Guidelines

    • You will need 4 GCSE's at Grade 3 or above. One of the 4 GCSE's to be Maths or English at Grade 3 (or Functional Skill level 1) to study at this level.
    • If you have a beginner/Introductory qualification in the subject you want to study  and a maths or English GCSE at Grade 3 (or Functional Skill level 1) you can study at this level.
    • Entry requirements for Level 2 courses in some sectors may be more specific. If you're unsure whether you meet these requirements, don't worry — we can help you find a suitable course that aligns with your skills and experience.

    You will be required to perform a short audition which can be singing, or playing your musical instrument.

  • Where can I progress to?

    On successfully completing this course you may be able to progress onto the Level 3 Extended Music Performance course or other Level 3 courses.

  • Equipment Required

    To learn effectively on your course you will need to use certain items of equipment and undertake particular activities as part of your studies.

    To further enhance your learning experience the following will be required:

    • Musical Instrument Equipment (e.g. drum sticks, guitar strings, sheet music etc.): 60
