Welcome to the Aspiring Hair and Beauty Professional programme at Wirral Met. This programme has been designed to give you the skills and knowledge to start your journey towards your dream career in the exciting Hair and Beauty industry.
Alongside developing your technical abilities, the programme will help you to get work ready by building on your confidence and interpersonal skills. You will have the opportunity to try out a range of subject areas related to the Hair and Beauty industry, allowing you to explore different career paths and discover your strengths before progressing onto a Level 2 qualification.

The programme will help you to improve your Maths and English, develop technical skills, gain work experience and get involved in extra-curricular activities and tutorials. It has been designed to help you develop professionally and supports your progression.

Entry Guidelines
- There are no formal entry qualifications required to study at this level.
- Basic levels of literacy and numeracy are expected.

Where can I progress to?
This course offers a direct pathway to Occupational routes:
- Level 2 Hair Professional Jnr
- Level 2 Beauty Professional Jnr
- Level 2 Make-up Professional Jnr
It will also provide you with skills which can be used in full-time employment or an apprenticeship.

Timetable
You will typically be in college for a minimum of 3 days per week. You will receive your individual timetable at the start of your course.

Equipment Required
To learn effectively on this course, you will need to use certain items of equipment and uniform to undertake particular activities as part of your studies. These will be yours to keep and you will be able to use them for practice at home and in your future career. These items will incur additional costs and can be discussed with a member of the hairdressing and beauty team.

This course is assessed through a combination of written work and practical assessments, work experience completion and project work.
