We’re proud to share that Wirral Met College has been highly commended in the Heart Creative Arts Award category at the Education North Awards 2026. The awards were celebrated on Thursday 7th May 2026, in Manchester's Emirates Stadium to showcase the very best of the North’s leading Colleges and Universities.

This recognition celebrates the outstanding impact of our Creative Arts provision, highlighting our courses, the dedication of our tutors, and the environment we provide for our students across art, Creative, media, music, games design and photography.

Throughout the year, we work closely with local organisations and partners to give students valuable industry experience through live briefs, client projects and community collaborations. Our art students have worked alongside the NHS to create murals and artwork displayed in local hospitals, as well as supporting activities with dementia patients in care homes.

Our music students regularly gain hands-on experience in sound engineering and live performance, while our games and VFX students benefit from opportunities with the NextGen Skills Academy. This year, our photography students also worked on a live brief with local government, capturing landmarks and heritage sites across the Wirral to support digital initiatives promoting the area.

Our Creative Arts programmes continue to play a vital role in developing regional talent, equipping students with the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress into higher education or careers within the creative industries.

Being recognised is a testament to the hard work and passion of our staff and students, as well as the strong partnerships we have built across local organisations.
