Hospitality businesses across the Liverpool City Region are being invited to take part in a new fully funded recruitment and training initiative designed to help employers fill vacancies with job-ready candidates.
Delivered through Wirral Works at Wirral Met College in partnership with UKHospitality and Jobcentre Plus, the Hospitality Skills Passport SWAP connects local employers with people who are ready to begin a career in hospitality.
The programme has been developed to support businesses facing recruitment challenges, seasonal demand and ongoing staffing needs across roles in hospitality, catering and customer service.
What is the Hospitality Skills Passport?
The Hospitality Skills Passport is a fully funded pre-employment programme that prepares learners for real hospitality jobs through sector-specific training, workplace preparation and employer engagement.
Over the course of the programme, learners develop practical hospitality skills, customer service knowledge and workplace behaviours while gaining recognised qualifications and certifications.
Learners who complete the programme achieve:
- Hospitality Skills Passport
- OCN Level 1 Award in Skills for Professions in Catering, Hospitality and Tourism
- City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Food Safety
- Allergen Awareness training
- A digital badge endorsed by OCN London that can be shared with employers
The programme is designed to give employers confidence that candidates have completed relevant, industry-focused training and are prepared for the workplace.
Supporting Hospitality Recruitment
The Hospitality Skills Passport SWAP is built around real vacancies and direct routes into employment.
Local hospitality businesses are encouraged to get involved by sharing current or upcoming vacancies, recruitment needs or seasonal staffing requirements. Employers can also help shape the programme by highlighting the skills and behaviours they value most in new recruits.
Businesses taking part can benefit from:
- Access to pre-screened, job-ready candidates
- Fully funded training and employability support
- Reduced recruitment and onboarding pressures
- Support from Wirral Works and Jobcentre Plus
- Opportunities to meet learners through interviews, recruitment events or workplace visits
As part of the SWAP model, employers are asked to offer interviews to suitable learners who successfully complete the programme.
