This one-year GCSE English course is designed to help you build your confidence, develop your English skills and achieve a recognised GCSE qualification. With daytime and evening study options available, you can choose a timetable that works for you.

Throughout the course, you'll develop your ability to read, understand and critically analyse a range of texts, as well as plan, structure and evaluate your own writing.

The course is FREE if you do not already have a GCSE English qualification at grade 4/C or above, or if you live in the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

  • Course Details

    The course consists of:

    Exam Paper 1: 19th Century Fiction (40% of your overall mark)

    • Section A: Reading
    • Section B: Imaginative writing

    Exam Paper 2: 20th and 21st Century Non-Fiction (60% of your overall mark)

    • Section A: Reading
    • Section B: Transactional writing

    In addition you are required to complete a Speaking and Listening assessment which includes:

    • Communicating and adapting language
    • Interacting and responding and creating and sustaining a role
  • Entry Guidelines

    You must be 19 or over on or before 31st August to study on this course.

    Applicants must pass an initial assessment.
