Maths courses at this level are FREE.
You will take part in various individual, paired and whole group activities that will help develop your maths skills. You will have your own plan of work which you will discuss with your tutor.

Course Details
Courses cover a range of topics. Depending on the level this may include; mental calculations and estimating the cost of items, use of common fractions, decimals, percentages and the metric system, finding and using information in lists, tables, and charts, recognising and using 2-D shapes and finding the mean, range, median and mode and using them to compare data.

Entry Guidelines
To join a course you first need to complete an assessment to determine the correct level for you.
You don't need any qualifications but you do need skills equivalent to Entry Level 2 or above to be able to access these courses. Your initial assessment will show what your correct skills level is and you will then be enrolled onto the correct level. We offer Entry level, Level 1 and level 2 mathematics qualifications.

Where can I progress to?
You may be able to progress on to the next level or a range of other courses that require mathematical skills.
Returning students would need to be able to demonstrate improvement in their skills in order to progress to the next level.

Assessment Methods
You will work towards a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification. Your assessment at the end of the course consists of a single paper with 2 parts; calculator and non-calculator.
