Our Level 2 Award in Furniture Upcycling will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills needed to transform used and unwanted furniture into creative, functional pieces. You will be introduced to the fundamental principles of upcycling, gaining an understanding of how materials, processes and techniques can be used to restore, adapt and re design furniture.
From learning essential preparation and repair techniques to exploring painting, finishing and decorative methods, you will develop both technical skills and creative confidence. The course encourages experimentation and problem solving, allowing you to rethink materials and develop your own style.
You will take part in a practical, workshop-based programme, culminating in a portfolio of upcycled furniture pieces that demonstrate your creative and technical development

This course is intended for students who want to progress into further study or a career within furniture design, interiors, craft, or the wider creative industries. You will cover the following:

Entry Guidelines
You must be 19 or over to study on this course.
You do not need formal qualifications for this course.You must be able to follow instructions, be willing to work independently, produce answers in a clear and understandable form and organise information clearly.
It is open to individuals of all levels, from beginners with a keen interest in the subject, to those looking to refine their skills.

Where can I progress to?
Upon successful completion of the Level 2 Award, students may choose to progress to higher-level specialist courses or pursue specialised areas of interest within the field.

Timetable
The course runs from 23rd September 2026 to 27th January 2027. The sessions take place on Wednesday evenings 6-9pm.

Required equipment will be discussed during your introductory session in week 1.

Assessment for this course is primarily through coursework, practical assignments, and portfolio development.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their understanding of specialist subject concepts through hands-on projects and digital portfolio submissions.
