If you're passionate about understanding human thoughts, emotions, and behaviours and want to pursue a career in psychology, the Access to HE Psychology and Mental Health is your first step towards a university degree. Designed for students who may not yet have the required grades, this course provides the knowledge, skills, and confidence to progress to a Psychology degree. You will study Psychology as a core subject with Mental Health units to underpin your understanding.

The is an intensive and demanding course, therefore, 100% attendance is expected for successful completion.

  • Course Details

    You will need to achieve 60 credits to gain a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in Psychology. You will study a total of 18 units, 16 worth 3 credits each and 2 worth 6 credits each. For 14 units you can gain a Pass, Merit or Distinction for each unit, and 4 units are ungraded. Some Higher Education courses ask for a certain number of Merits or Distinctions to gain a place on their courses.

  • Entry Guidelines

    To study a Level 3 qualification, you will need:

    One Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths or GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above

    Satisfactory interview and/or assessment

  • Where can I progress to?

    You can progress to a 3 year degree in Psychology as well as other subjects, such as, Social Work, Health Promotion, Law or Education for example.

    The College offers a pathway to the University of Liverpool called BSc (Hons) Psychology where you can study 2 years with the college and your final two years with the University.

  • Assessment Methods

    You will be assessed through assignments set such as essays, academic posters, reports, research tasks, timed assessments and presentations.
