This programme of study is for young people aged 16-18 and, where appropriate, for those who are 19plus.
It is appropriate for young people who are not currently in employment, education or training.

Course Details
All of the skills are transferable to educational, training and employment settings. The programme aims to:
- Develop students' confidence and motivation
- Develop communication and teamwork skills
- Provide an introduction to the world of work
- Enable students to gain knowledge and experience in vocational areas
- Develop essential career, social and personal development skills
- Assist students in their awareness of opportunities available in employment
- Raise awareness of progression opportunities
- Enable students to develop their English and maths
The qualification offered is NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills. The Certificate is achieved by completing a wide range of units for example;
- Skills for Employability
- Career Preparation
- Preparing for Work Experience
- Customer Service Skills
- Group and Teamwork
- Communication Skills
- Health and Safety Awareness
It is expected that you will work towards GCSE in both English and maths during the course.

Entry Guidelines
This course is prioritised for students who are 16-18, but there may be opportunity for students who are 19plus to access the course where appropriate.
No formal qualifications are needed.
Satisfactory interview to assess motivation, communication skills, career planning and the commitment to attend college for 100% of sessions.

Where can I progress to?
It is expected that once you have completed this qualification you will progress into education or employment area to further develop your skills and achieve additional qualifications.

Assessment Methods
Students will create a portfolio of evidence which will include projects, reports, presentations, assignments and workbooks. During the programme students will also work on their maths, English and ICT skills and have the opportunity to undertake relevant qualifications.
