This Level 3 Diploma course is designed to advance your hairdressing expertise through a dynamic mix of creative and technical units. From mastering the art of cutting and colouring to refining your styling skills and supporting colleagues through effective consultations, this qualification provides a comprehensive foundation for a successful career in the hairdressing industry.

  • Course Details

    The course is a Level 3 Diploma that covers the following units:

    • Creative art of cutting women's hair
    • Artistic skill of colouring
    • Imaginative dexterity of styling and dressing hair
    • Technical colour correction
    • How to provide effective consultation support for colleagues

    Alongside these modules, you will develop a sound knowledge of monitoring health and safety whilst working in the hairdressing industry.

    You will also develop a knowledge and understanding of the practical skills learned throughout this qualification. As well as practical assessment there will be online exams and written assignments.

  • Entry Guidelines

    • This Level 3 course is 1 year in length.
    • If you have a level 2 qualification in the subject you want to study and a maths or English GCSE at Grade 4 (or functional skill level 2) you can study at this level.
    • Entry requirements for Level 3 courses in some sectors may be more specific. If you're unsure whether you meet these requirements, don't worry — we can help you find a suitable course that aligns with your skills and experience.

  • Where can I progress to?

    You may wish to further your management skills, consider teaching hairdressing as a career or developing related skills such as Beauty Therapy.

  • Equipment Required

    You will need a full make up kit including brushes and top up kits. This will available to order at enrolment and you may be eligible for financial support to help with the cost of this.

  • Assessment Methods

    Practical assessment tests are carried out and written assignments are completed. In addition there are VTCT online tests.
