This course provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the area of photography.

Course details

You will learn about the various applications of photography, such as fashion, advertising and landscapes, using both film and digital platforms. You will research and discuss the work of key photographers and learn how to analyse their technique and style as well as developing your own photographic skills. Units covered: Year 1

Timetables of study and assessment calendars will be available in course handbooks, provided following enrolment. HND Photography students typically partake in classroom-based work two days a week. Class groups are expected to contain around 10-12 students, mixed of those studying both the HNC and HND in Photography. Entry guidelines

Entry is open to students with relevant qualifications, which is detailed below. Students who do not satisfy the entry criteria may be eligible by virtue of their motivation and relevant experience. Learners who enter with at least one of the following are likely to benefit more readily from an art and design programme: a BTEC National in an art and design subject, a relevant GCE profile with appropriate supporting passes (C/4 and above) at GCSE, appropriate work experience. Applicants are required to present a portfolio of their work and will be interviewed before being accepted onto the course.

Assessment Method

Assessment will be through a carefully selected mix of assignments and portfolio reviews. A selection of units on the course will be assessed through a student presentations.
