T Level - Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing qualification will equip you with the skills, knowledge and industry experience to start your journey into this thriving sector.
Designed by industry leaders the T Level combines hands on learning, academic study and a minimum 45-day industry placement.
This qualification is for you if you want to work within the engineering and
manufacturing industry.
It has been designed to deliver a high level of
knowledge about the engineering industry as well as the occupational skills you
will need to enter the industry — also known as threshold competence.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the engineering industry and the sector, and you will cover topics such as:
- Processes of production and manufacturing
- Materials used in production, manufacturing, research and design environments
- Specialist machinery utilised in the production and manufacturing environments
- Product and project management
- Quality assurance and quality control
- Business, commercial and financial awareness
You will also get the opportunity to specialise in:
- Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing - Mechanical Engineering
You will work in the engineering workshops and our state of the art CAD suite
to gain a range of core practical engineering skills, whilst attending theory
lessons conducted in classrooms. An industry-based work placement will run
alongside your course further reinforcing your newly learned skills and offering
a true insight into the engineering industry.
This is a Study Programme for students aged 16-18 years.
To study a T Level, you will need:
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 4-9 including English and Maths
OR
Relevant Level 2 qualifications at merit or above and English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
OR
T-Level foundation programme and English and Maths at grade 4 or above
Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement

A key component of this course is an extended work experience placement, totalling at least 45 days over the two year programme.

and will work with you to find the right placement for
you.
You could progress into a skilled profession or continue your studies with a degree or higher apprenticeship.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
