Start your dream career with a free traineeship programme!
Young people from across Wirral interested in starting careers in animal care, beauty therapy, business administration, construction, hairdressing and hospitality & catering are invited to learn more about traineeships at Wirral Met College.
What is a traineeship?
A traineeship is a free short course with work experience that gets young people ready for work or an apprenticeship. Students will develop their English, maths and digital skills, whilst learning how to prepare for the world of work with CV writing and what to expect in the workplace.
Programmes are tailored to meet students’ needs and prepare them for what local businesses are looking for. For example they could spend their traineeship working in a busy beauty salon or dog groomers, completing business administration tasks in an office or learning new skills at a construction site.
You can apply for a traineeship if you are eligible to work in England, aged 16 to 24, or 25 for those with an Education, Health and Care plan (EHC) and hold no higher than a full Level 3 qualification (e.g. A Levels).
What traineeships are available?
Wirral Met has exciting traineeship vacancies available, which all start on Monday 5th October for 10 weeks. Traineeships are available across the following industries and professions:
- Animal Care (dog grooming, stable farm)
- Beauty Therapy
- Business administration (sales, admin and customer services)
- Construction (labourer, plumbing, joinery, gas fitting, electrics and ground working)

All trainees will be provided with a free travel pass to help them get to their work experience placement and College for the duration of their traineeship.
