This course offers an engaging program for those who are clear about the vocational area of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and wish to develop their knowledge, understanding and skills necessary vocationally and personally to prepare them for employment or moving onto level 2 qualifications, providing they have met a high standard of work.
This programme will enable you to study a wide range of skills, all of which will help you on your chosen career pathway, moving into employment or further training. You will get the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification linked to your chosen career. Also, this programme will help you to improve your maths, English and ICT, plus develop the personal and social skills which employers look for. You will be given support and guidance throughout your learning journey and your progress will be reviewed with you regularly. The course covers areas such as:
- Computer components and how they work
- Computer programs and how to use them
- The skills you need to gain employment
- Functional skills necessary for life
A relevant Entry Level qualification or 3 GCSEs grades 2/E or equivalent. This should include English and Maths.
A successful interview which includes an ICT assessment and reference.
A school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Assessment will be carried mainly through assignments and where an assignment is inappropriate, observation witness statements maybe used.
Students will be required to read, respond to and produce written materials to meet assessment requirements.
Are you aged 16-18?
Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C (grade 4 or above) in English and maths
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips
Successful completion of the qualification may present opportunities for learners preparation /entry into employment or access to a level 2 qualification providing they have met a high standard of work.

If you are aged 16-18:
This study programme will be FREE for most students who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, or students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
If you are aged 19 or over:
Fee : £760.00
