Wirral Met College alumnus Carly Chadwick returned to further education as a mature student back in 2014 to complete the two-year Foundation Degree in Computer Science at the College’s multi-million-pound STEAM centre.

Thanks to the Foundation Degree at the College being validated by the University of Chester, Carly was given direct access to a place on the final year of the BSc (Hons) Applied Computing degree at the university where she graduated with a 1st in 2017.

“Wirral Met gave me the technical foundations which I could build upon in my final year [at the University of Chester] and in my career” she went on to say “I met some amazing people and made life-long friends” during her time on the course at the College.

After graduating, Carly took a job as a Software Developer before applying on to a graduate scheme with Airbus where she now works as a Technology & Digital Solutions Graduate.

When discussing her future, Carly plans to stay with Airbus and says that she hopes to “go into a technical role, ideally in software or app development”.

Returning to the College earlier this year to speak to groups of Computing and IT students during Industry week about careers within the aerospace industry, Carly told students to “never give up, you can do anything you put your mind to”.

Phil Hannon, Computing Lecturer said he is “very proud of all that Carly has achieved”.

We’re looking forward to seeing where Carly progresses to in the future.
