These courses equip students with the skills and knowledge to progress onto occupations including:
Starting salaries for Police Officers are from £19,000 per year and a sergeant can earn between £36,000 and £41,000 per year. Private soldiers can earn between £17,000 and £28,000 per year. Qualified Paramedics earn between £21,000 and £27,000 per year, and senior Paramedics or team leaders can earn up to £34,000 per year. (Source)
Students can progress into careers in the Armed Forces, Fire, Police or Ambulance/Paramedic services, although some will progress into Higher Education to study on a degree programme.
Where are they now?
Stephen Douglas has completed Level 2 Public Services and Level 2 Fitness Instructor courses with Wirral Met. He is currently studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma Public Services. Stephen completed 6 years within the Merseyside Army Cadet Force and achieved the rank of ‘Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major’ in 2017. He has now returned to the Merseyside Army Cadet Force as an adult instructor where he is soon due to complete this qualification.
