Each year, our Travel and Tourism department organise a variety of work placements within the Visitor Economy sector for students to gain work experience abroad with the help of Erasmus+.

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s (EU) programme for education, training, youth and sport, with the EU committing £12billion to the programme between 2014 and 2020.

This year, there have been two separate trips to Granada, Spain. During the first trip, Travel and Tourism students had the opportunity to go to the Granada Aviation College for two weeks, where they enjoyed a full and exciting timetable of events. The second trip, in April, saw 20 students travel to Spain for three weeks to gain excellent experience working in hotels and leisure attractions.

Also in April, Level 2 and 3 Travel and Tourism students visited Belgium for two weeks work experience in the city of Ghent. Throughout their time, they were given the opportunity to work in customer service, sales, displaying products, stock control and even learned basic language skills.

These trips are excellent opportunities for our students to gain valuable experience and skills to guide them further in their course, and to support them in their future careers.
