We’re continuing to invest in our campuses to provide state-of-the-art facilities that give our students the hands-on experience and skills they need to thrive in today’s competitive job market. This major investment ensures our learners can develop professional-level skills in realistic, industry-standard environments.
At our Hamilton Campus, we’ve recently opened brand-new, high-tech training kitchens for Culinary Arts. These facilities meet the highest industry standards, giving students the chance to practice and perfect their craft in a professional setting.
Meanwhile, at our Twelve Quays Campus, a £4 million development is now underway to create a new teaching block for English and maths, and a state-of-the-art vehicle workshop to strengthen our technical training offer. The works are being delivered by local contractor Krol Corlett and are due to complete in July 2026, ready for the start of the autumn term.
This project follows the completion of a welcoming new campus entrance and a redesigned, flexible lecture space, which will provide a modern, adaptable environment for students across all courses.
Throughout the 38-week construction period, the campus will remain open, with careful planning in place to ensure safety and minimise disruption to learning.
What makes this development particularly exciting is that some of our own apprentices will play an active role in the build, gaining invaluable real-world experience while helping to shape the future of their College.
As our Principal and CEO, Gill Banks, explains:
“This project represents a significant investment in our students’ future and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing first-class facilities across the College. Maths and English are at the heart of employability, and this new teaching block will create an inspiring environment where students can develop these essential skills.
The addition of a new vehicle workshop will further strengthen our technical training offer, providing a fully equipped space where learners can gain the practical, hands-on experience that employers value.
What makes this development particularly exciting is that Wirral Met apprentices will play an active role in the construction, gaining invaluable real-world experience while helping to shape the very future of their College.
This investment is not only about improving opportunities for our students – it reflects our wider commitment to our staff and our community. As an anchor institution, Wirral Met continues to invest in people, skills, and facilities, making this a great place to learn, work and thrive.”
We’re proud to be working with Krol Corlett on this development, who share our commitment to supporting the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
This investment reflects our long-term commitment to equipping students with the practical skills, confidence, and experience they need to succeed, while helping to create a skilled talent pool for Wirral and the wider region.
