These FAQs provide information about Wirral Met College’s enrolment process for new and existing students and transition week for school leaver age students joining us for the first time in September.

  • I am a new student aged 16-18 (or 16-24 with an EHCP)

    For new students aged 16-18 (or 16-24 with an EHCP), enrolment takes place from Thursday 21st August – Friday 29th August (excluding weekends and bank holiday Monday).

    Quiet Enrolment – Appointment Only

    What do I need to do before I attend enrolment?

    If you have made an application and been offered a place on a course, you will receive a digital enrolment form via email. Please complete this form prior to attending face-to-face enrolment.

    Please also collect your GCSE results and bring them along with you.

    Where is enrolment taking place?

    Enrolment is taking place across our Wirral Waters (Tower Rd, Birkenhead CH41 1AA) and Conway Park (10 Europa Blvd, Birkenhead CH41 4NT) Campuses. You will receive a letter telling you which campus you should attend, depending on the course you are enrolling on.

    Please note – this may not be the campus you will be studying at from September onwards.

    Travelling to Conway Park

    By Car

    There is limited parking available at the rear of the building via Adelphi Street. There are a number of pay and display car parks nearby. Find a car park here.

    By Car

    There is very limited parking at our Wirral Waters Campus. If you are travelling by car we would suggest parking at our Twelve Quays Campus and walking over.

    What support is available at enrolment?

    Student Advisers will be available to provide Careers Information, Advice and Guidance if you are still undecided about the course you want to study.

    Our Student Finance team will also be available if you need information about the financial support available to you whilst studying at college.

    When do I get my timetable?

    You will receive your full timetable on your first day during transition week (w/c 1st September). At enrolment you will receive the date and time of your first session during transition week.

    Your first session will either be:

    • Monday 1st September (for Level 1 students)
    • Thursday 4th September (for students starting on Level 2 & 3 courses)

    Transition Week is designed to help you settle in, feel confident and make a strong start at Wirral Met College. It’s your chance to get to know your tutors and pastoral coach, meet your classmates, and get a feel for college life before your full timetable begins.

    Throughout the week, you’ll take part in a range of induction activities that will help prepare you for the year ahead. These might include:

    • Welcome sessions with your tutors and pastoral teams
    • Tours of the campus and key facilities (such as the library, canteen and student services)
    • Ice-breaker activities to help you get to know your group
    • Sessions introducing you to our digital platforms (such as Microsoft Teams and the Student Portal)
    • A Thrive tutorial focusing on what it means to be a successful student at Wirral Met

    There’ll also be a Freshers Fair, where you can explore the range of support services available - from mental health and wellbeing to careers advice - and find out about the clubs, societies and enrichment activities you can get involved with.

    You won’t follow your usual timetable during Transition Week. Instead, you’ll follow a special induction timetable designed to help you feel informed, supported and ready to thrive at college.

  • I am a returning student aged 16-18 (or 16-24 with an EHCP)

    Where do I collect by English or Maths GCSE results?

    If you’re an existing student who sat your GCSE English or Maths at Wirral Met this summer, you can collect your GCSE results from our Twelve Quays Campus, in the HE Block.

    When is my first day back at college?

    Your first day back at college will be w/c 8th September. You can find out your timetable by accessing Pro-Portal.

    Do I need to attend face-to-face enrolment?

    No, you don’t need to attend face-to-face enrolment if you are progressing onto the next year of your course. You should have filled out a paper pre-enrolment form at the end of last academic year.     Do I need a new student ID?

    No, you will keep your student ID from last academic year. You will be given a new lanyard on your first day back at college.

  • I am an Adult Student

    When and where does adult enrolment take place?

    Adult enrolment is taking place on Thursday 21st till Friday 29th August 9am-5pm at our Wirral Waters Campus (Tower Rd, Birkenhead CH41 1AA). You can come at any time during these opening hours.

    • Two forms of identification, one showing your home address
    • If you are employed evidence of your income (this can be electronic)
    • Your National Insurance Number
    • Your highest qualification to date

    When will I get my timetable?

    You will be given your timetable at enrolment.

    You will be given your student ID card at enrolment.

    How do I find out if I am eligible to study my course for free?
