Whether English is your second language or you want to improve your native skills, Wirral Met has a course for you. Our courses are perfect if you want to improve your reading, writing and maths skills and progress on to different courses, employment or higher education. Last year, our adult achievements in GCSE English and maths were well above the national average.

We run courses from Entry Level to GCSE and with flexible day and evening classes available, based at our Conway Park Campus in Birkenhead which has great transport links by bus, train and car.

Helen Burns, who owns her own business as a children’s party entertainer, enrolled on a Functional Maths course at Wirral Met as she was advised a maths qualification would be advantageous to help with her business accounts.

Mum of two Helen has now progressed to a more advanced course and is continuing to improve her skills. Helen said: “I decided to have a change of career when I had my two boys and couldn't afford to pay childcare. Now my new business is thriving and I’m still committed to furthering my education.”

If you’re an adult and earn less than £17,550 or £9 per hour, you can study on an English or maths GCSE course (level 2) for FREE, subject to eligibility.
