Whether our students are returning to education after a break, studying for the first time or wanting to retrain for a new career, we welcome and encourage mature students from all backgrounds and ambitions.
We know that as a mature student it can be harder to balance your study, work and life commitments. Returning to education is a big decision, so it is important that you make the right choice when choosing a place to study.
Wirral Met College can support you. We are committed to ensuring that our students have a good study/life balance. This is achieved by ensuring that our courses are delivered over as few days as possible, giving students the chance to maximise their spare time for work, family or other commitments alongside achieving their qualification.
Employment in a skilled occupation in your chosen career
A level 4, 5 or Degree Apprenticeship
Higher level study such as university degree (T Levels are equivalent to A Level UCAS points), Higher National Certificate/Diploma, technical or professional qualification.
Apprenticeships - 80% in the workplace and 20% off the job training i.e an employment opportunity with training for those who are keen on working in a specific role.
T Levels - 80% classroom-based with 20% on an extended industry placement. A T Level gives an overview of different roles and career routes within an industry. You do not get paid for your industry placement on the T Level course, however you may be eligible for the ‘T Award’ which includes a package of benefits worth up to £300.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* - C/9 - 4, including English Language and Maths.
The Digital Support Services T Level requires an IT-related GCSE such as IT, Computing or Computer Science.

Sophie started her accounting journey by studying on the level 2 AAT Fast-Track Foundation Certificate in Accounting. In just 4 months, Sophie had mastered basic costings, how to use accounting systems and purchase and general legders. Sophie then progressed on to the level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting to expand her skills and has since landed a job working in a busy Finance department.

Jessica Williams joined Wirral Met in 2020 on an Access to HE Psychology and Mental Health course. At 22 year old, Jessica decided it was time to fulfil her ambition to study Psychology at university. Jessica had given birth just three months before starting her Access to HE course but was determined to create a new future for her child and partner.
Jessica successfully completed the course in June 2021 and has since progressed on to the BSc (Hons) Psychology (2+2) degree at Wirral Met, in partnership with the University of Liverpool.
“The course gave me a new lease of life and a purpose. I knew I needed to do well for my child and partner for our future," explains Jess.
"The support at Wirral Met is incredible. Doing the course is one of my biggest achievements yet and I am really excited to carry on my journey with Wirral Met."

STUDENT INFORMATION, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE ENTITLEMENT STATEMENT
If you are aged 16-18 (on 31st August), study programmes are FREE for most students as these courses are funded by the government.
Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
These courses equip students with the skills and knowledge to progress onto occupations including:
Experienced air traffic controllers can earn between £36,000 and £50,000 per year, experienced air cabin crew can earn between £15,000 and £21,000 per year and senior cabin crew can earn up to £25,000 a year. Airline pilots can earn between £38,000 and £90,000, depending on their experience.

“Jonathan competed level 2 & 3 apprenticeships at GS Engineering before progressing on to an Engineering Officer cadetship at Maersk Shipping, studying towards a Degree in Engineering at Southampton Solent University.”
“Stuart was a Production Operator at Prowell Sonae UK before he progressed on to the level 3 apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.”
“Ethan progressed from intermediate and advanced apprenticeships to a higher level apprenticeship as a Laboratory and Science Technician. He now works as a lab technician in microbiology services for the NHS.”
“I have to thank my wonderful work placement and Wirral Met for the opportunity and all the support. It has allowed me to learn new skills and become more confident.”

Michelle, one of Wirral Met's BA (Hons) Fine Art tutors, completed her Master's Degree with distinction at the University of Central Lancashire.
Julie gained her pre-Degree Foundation Diploma & BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Wirral Met College. Julie works with recycled materials to raise awareness of the struggle with the destruction on the planet.
Emma progressed through levels 1, 2 & 3 in Childcare & Early Years, and is now employed at Auntie Jayne's House nursery.
Stuart completed Digital & Computing Technologies Foundation & level 3 Extended Diplomas at Wirral Met
Tess successfully completed the Foundation degree in Computer Science at Wirral Met and has progressed on to a BSc Computer Science degree. Tess said: “Wirral Met has been a fantastic step into higher education through its informative teaching in a comfortable and friendly environment.”
Deanna completed level 2 Painting & Decorating Diploma at Wirral Met then progressed onto an apprenticeship with Whittle Hankinson. She said: “I am so lucky to have secured this place, I couldn’t have done this without Wirral Met. The apprenticeship has given me the courage to start a female decorating business when I finish.”
Vincent completed Level 3 Plastering at Wirral Met, before returning to the College as a brickwork and plastering technician, whilst studying an HNC in construction. Vincent said: “The staff prove that hard work really does pay off!”

Vicky completed her level 3 qualification in Hairdressing at Wirral Met and is now studying towards a Barbering qualification.
Stuart started at Wirral Met in 2014 as an intermediate level engineering apprentice and progressed on to the advanced level apprenticeship, where he worked at Prowell Ltd in Ellesmere Port, the world's largest manufacturer of corrugated cardboard. Stuart has become an integral part of their engineering team.

Josh completed Health & Social Care level 3 Extended Diploma at Wirral Met and is now studying with Sheffield Hallam University/Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
Katie studied Level 3 preparing to work in the health and social work sector at Wirral Met. She has now progressed to the University of Chester to study an Honours Degree in Adult Nursing. Katie said: "Wirral Met has prepared me for university life by giving me the skills and confidence to start my nursing journey."
“I progressed from level 1 to level 3 in Travel and Tourism, which lead on to an International Tourism Management degree at the University of Chester. Wirral Met will always be the key that unlocked the path to my career in an industry I love.”
Olivia completed the Aviations Operations Diploma and now works as a Flight Despatcher in Passenger Services at Manchester Airport.
Paul completed the BTEC Diplomas in Hotel Management at level 2 & Professional Cookery at level 3 at Wirral Met. Paul said: “If you’ve got a passion in your heart and you’ve got a real desire to do this properly, then the best thing can do is get on a foundation course.”
After studying at Wirral Met, Sam worked with Michelin star chefs before setting up his own restaurant.
Rizal is studying the Professional Cookery level 2 apprenticeship and is currently employed as a kitchen assistant apprentice. He plans on continuing his Hospitality & Catering career by becoming a trained chef.
Lucky completed BTEC level 3 Applied Science Extended Diploma at Wirral Met before progressing to the University of Liverpool, studying towards an Applied Medical Science Degree.
Adam completed Level 3 Diploma in Laboratory & Associated Technical Activities, HNC & HND Applied Chemistry and a Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship/BSc Applied Chemistry at Wirral Met. Adam is now studying a Master’s Degree at the University of Liverpool.
Devin has completed both the BTEC level 3 applied science and level 3 Extended Diplomas. After a successful work experience placement at Feedwater Ltd, Devin secured a full-time apprenticeship with the company and is now studying towards his BTEC HNC in Applied Biology.
Cameron joined Wirral Met from Clare Mount Specialist Sports College in 2019 and has gone from strength to strength on his Supported Internship. He recently secured a job with local employer, Jacksons Leisure Supplies (JLS). Eleanor Jackson, Manager at JLS said: “Cameron has gained independence and confidence while on placement and is a real asset to our company."
Joseph completed BTEC level 3 Sports & Exercise Science Extended Diploma at Wirral Met and is now studying towards a Degree in Sports Psychology & Education at Liverpool Hope University.
Chris completed the Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science at Wirral Met, then completed BA and MA Degrees at the University of Chester. He now works at GB boxing as Senior Performance Analyst & Technical Lead.

Cristina said: “Going back to education after almost 20 years was quite a daunting task, but my Wirral Met tutors gave me wonderful support as well as challenged me, making me aim higher.”
Louise applied to study a PGCE in Education as a mature student, as she wanted a change in career. Louise graduated in 2018 and now works full-time as a lecturer in English Language at a local college. She teaches students aged 16 plus, including an evening class.
Lewis completed the Level 2 and 3 Military Preparation Diploma at Wirral Met and is now serving in the British Army working as a driver in the Royal Logistic Corp. Lewis said: “The Course was brilliant, it gave me an in-depth look at what to expect in my chosen career.”
John Holmes completed the Level 2 Military Preparation Course at Wirral Met and is now training to become a Paratrooper in the Army’s Parachute Regiment.
Sean has completed a raft of counselling courses at Wirral Met, from CPCAB level 2 Introduction to Counselling Skills to a level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Sean now works for Wirral Met as a counselling lecturer and is also an addiction counsellor for SHARP Liverpool.
Jack started his apprenticeship journey in 2020 and is due to complete his level 4 AAT Accounting Apprenticeship in 2023. Jack said: "My apprenticeship has given me a solid foundation in my knowledge and helped me become a mentor in my workplace."
Caitlin undertook an apprenticeship at Wirral Borough Council, working in the Finance and Investment division as an apprentice accountant. Caitlin said: "I had a gap in my skillset when I left university and I was lucky to spend time at Wirral Met to considerably improve my knowledge in public finance. I would 100% call it a life changing experience!"
Kuba is an Accounts and Finance Assistant Apprentice for Caffe Cream in New Brighton. Kuba said: "My course has helped start my accounting career and prepare me for my exams."
Janie joined the college in 2020 on a HR Consultant/Partner Apprenticeship and has used her apprenticeship to progress her career in the NHS.
Helen has no official business qualifications, yet through hard work and determination she has managed to set up her own business as a children’s party entertainer. Helen was advised a Maths qualification would be advantageous to help with her accounts so she enrolled upon a Functional Maths course and progressed to a more advanced course.
Leah Franklin started on the level 2 supported internship programme in September 2019. Leah began a work placement with B&M in Bromborough and in just six weeks, she was offered full-time employment.
Scott enrolled on the supported internship programme after completing his Brickwork Diploma. He secured a placement with Peninsula Fencing and the company soon offered him a full-time paid position as a General Labourer.
Wirral Met's Access to HE courses lead to a wide range of Degrees, including Health, Social Work, Nursing, Midwifery, Paramedics, Radiography, Medicine and Veterinary Science. You could also progress onto Degrees in Criminology, Science, Social Science, Education Studies, Primary Education, English and Maths.

Many students progress to employment within the travel industry once they have completed their full-time study programmes, and our Level 3 students often progress onto Higher Education programmes and University.

Cameron joined Wirral Met from Clare Mount Specialist Sports College in 2019 and has gone from strength to strength on his Supported Internship. He recently secured a job with local employer, Jacksons Leisure Supplies (JLS). Eleanor Jackson, Manager at JLS said: “Cameron has gained independence and confidence while on placement and is a real asset to our company."

Joanne Henney, Chair of Governors
Joanne has been the Chief Executive Officer at Nugent since early 2023, a registered charity based across the Merseyside region which focuses on supporting young people and vulnerable adults with access to education, health care and wider support through schools, care homes and social work services, where she has worked since 2019. She is an experienced senior leader and board member who has worked in a range of roles in the public, private and charitable sectors throughout her career whilst also leading services for Government relating to the criminal justice system and immigration. Prior to her appointment as the CEO Joanne held the roles of Chief Governance Officer and Deputy CEO.
She was awarded the Trusted Executive of the Year in 2022 and was the first female winner of this accolade since 2019.
Joanne currently holds a number of non-executive positions, including Chair of Governors for Kirkby High School and the Chair of Trustees for the homeless charity, Emmaus Merseyside; a role which also means she sits on the wider Trustee Board of Emmaus UK.
Joanne lives in Liverpool and is also a foster carer.
Penny Haughan, Vice-Chair of Governors
Penny is the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Provost at Liverpool Hope University, a role that she has undertaken since the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a number of senior leadership roles at LHU over the past 20 years, Penny has gained a great deal of experience as a strategic leader with a focus not just on the academic aspects of her role but also student support and experience.
Having begun her career in various academic posts in other universities across Merseyside, Penny was appointed as the Dean of Science & Social Sciences at Liverpool Hope in 2005 with responsibility for the strategic development of a range of subjects, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor and playing a key role in the wider development of the institution. As Dean of Students and latterly, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student Life & Learning, she has led the development and improvement of the student experience (pastoral and academic).
She is also responsible for external relations and corporate communications and led the redevelopment of the University’s quality assurance processes, achieving a TEF gold award.
Penny is a member of the University’s Council, Vice Chair of the University Senate and also sits on a range of other boards including estates and IT, operational leadership, academic committee. She is the founder and chair of the Voice for Student Support & Wellbeing Services Committee.
Externally Penny has been the Chair of Governors at a local community primary school, supporting them through two Ofsted inspections.
She lives in Warrington.
Carol Ambrose
Carol is currently Group Head of Health, Safety & Environment at Cygnet Healthcare. She is a Chartered Health & Safety specialist with over 20 years of professional experience. For the last 15 years she has held senior, strategic leadership roles in a range of organisations in the housing, nuclear, marine, construction, education and healthcare sectors.
Within her leadership roles she has been responsible for designing and leading the implementation of health, safety and risk management policies and procedures. Through this, Carol has gained an in-depth understanding of regulation, compliance, reporting and risk management as well as Special Education Needs Development and safeguarding.
Carol is a former student of the College and lives in Liverpool.
Ali Mohammed Amirkhalili
Ali lives in West Kirby and is a director of ILA Consultancy. He is an experienced audit and risk management professional who began his career in academia as a tutor and lecturer in Scotland and Stoke-on-Trent before moving into industry.
Over the last few decades, Ali has held senior, strategic roles for a range of commercial organisations, including Boots, Alliance Boots (owners of the Boots and Halfords brands) and the Very Group.
He has a range of strategic expertise and has been responsible for the design and implementation of financial contract and risk systems that are used in 1700 individual stores in the UK and across Europe. Ali’s experience with the Very Group included the oversight of risk management in a £1.4Bn revenue company, its e-commerce platforms and their outsourced delivery provision.
Following a career break, Ali now provides consultancy support to a number of clients with a focus on audit and risk assessment.
Paul Gaskell
Paul is the founder and chairman of Dalehurst Limited. He is an experienced & qualified CIMA finance professional and strategic leader, who has overseen the financial functions of a range of well-known organisations including Heinz, Wine Cellar and John West Foods as their finance director and/or CFO.
Through such roles, Paul has gained a range of strategic expertise and been instrumental in the turnaround and organisational restructuring of the Wine Cellar organisation. He has first hand experience of fostering new workplace cultures, having led the redesign of the organisational values and staff strategy of John West Foods.
After these senior commercial roles, Paul has established an affordable housing business based across Liverpool.
Paul has a range of board experience and led John West Foods Risk, Audit and ESG Committee, leading the organisation to become recognised for its sustainability efforts.
He lives near Crosby.
Karen Lowe
Karen is Chief Financial Officer at Maximus Minerals Ltd and Chief Financial Officer at Ensco 2308 Ltd. She is an experienced, qualified finance ICAEW professional, who also has expertise in risk management and fraud.
In her earlier career, Karen gained both domestic and international accounting experience with well-known organisations such as DHL and Johnson & Johnson before shifting her career focus into forensic accounting, fraud risk management and investigation. Through this work she gained experience of the education sector through her support of university and college clients.
Karen has since built a successful executive career over the last 13 years with a focus on internal audit as well as continuing the themes of fraud risk management and cyber security.
She is currently a non-executive member of the board of South Liverpool Homes and the University of Essex respectively, where she sits on the Audit & Risk Committees of both organisations.
Karen lives on the Wirral.
Philip Vickerman
Philip is the Pro-Vice Chancellor (Student Experience), at Liverpool John Moores University, where he has held a number of senior roles since 2012. His subject background is sport, dance, physical and outdoor education.
Through his roles on the LJMU senior leadership team he has gained a wealth of strategic experience. Before being appointed as a Pro-Vice Chancellor he led the Centre for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), the School of Education, Leisure and Sport Studies and the Faculty of Education, Health and Community.
Philip’s first project as PVC related to strategic initiatives, where he oversaw a £180m estates strategy, established new faculties and led successful Quality Assurance Agency reviews before taking on responsibility for the student experience. Philip has since helped LJMU achieve a grading of ‘Good’ in its Ofsted inspection, which included ‘Outstanding’ for Degree Apprenticeships as well as a Teaching Excellence Framework Silver award (Gold for student outcomes).
He lives in Liverpool.
Lucky Ali
My previous experience as a Student Governor and SU President at Wirral Met College is strongly motivating me to apply for the role of Governor. I see this role as an opportunity to contribute my skills and knowledge of further/higher education sector and utilise them in the betterment of the College’s learning and engagement. Through this role I can make a difference in the educational and training needs of our local community.
Through previous experiences and current role as the President of BioMedical Society at the University, I have developed excellent communication and mentoring skills. The position of College Governor will allow me to enhance further my strategic thinking and problem-solving skills in a live setting.
As a Student Governor I have gained practical experience of board level dynamics and decision making and developed strong evaluation skills. I am immensely passionate to serve as a Governor for the College as this position will allow me to learn from the Senior Executive Team and other members of the Board. It will also provide the opportunity to share ideas and find innovative solutions to enhance student learning and engagement, career progression and inclusion.
Gary Baines
I have been in the Internal Audit profession for over 30 years primarily with MIAA and currently hold the position of Regional Assurance Director working from our Liverpool office.
MIAA provides Assurance and Advisory Services to the NHS across Cheshire and Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Lancashire and South Cumbria with over 60 core clients. MIAA also provides services to other public sector and third sector organisations, e.g. Charities, Local Authorities, Housing Associations etc.
Within my current role I am responsible for the overall delivery of audit plans to 17 NHS organisations supported by 4 Senior Audit Managers and a team of 14 directly employed auditors to whom I provide leadership and mentoring recognising that success can only be achieved with a strong team ethic. Our work culminates with the delivery of a Head of Internal Audit Opinion to each client to support the organisation’s statutory Annual Governance Statement which is a public facing declaration re: governance and control. I am also currently working with housing associations, social enterprises etc to provide assurance services. Whilst working within corporate policies and procedures my role is a senior leadership role which allows me to set the strategic direction of my region and via membership of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team contribute positively to wider corporate direction.
I also directly deliver work to my clients and have developed a specialism in project assurance and supporting organisations in this role as they deliver major systems and infrastructure changes. Recent examples being supporting organisations in changes to key financial systems, patient administration systems and the delivery of major capital projects, e.g. new hospital builds etc.
Richard Mawsley
17 years of experience within the property (commercial), development and regeneration industry on a nationwide basis. Good commercial skills and contacts within the business community. Born in Birkenhead and live in Heswall.
Paul Smith
I am an experienced senior manager in Children’s Services at Wirral Council. I currently have strategic and managerial responsibility for two key post 16 service areas, (a) 14-19 services (including Apprenticeships) and (b) Adult Learning.
I am also responsible for the delivery of two large key strategic employment and skills programmes funded by ESF and DWP.
In addition to my work in the borough I also have a cross Liverpool City Region employment and skills remit, including chairing the LCR Participation and Skills Strategy Group. This group feeds into the Employment and Skills Board and LEP.
In terms of skills that may lead lend themselves to role as governor with the college I have the following; budget management and planning, commissioning and procurement, quality assurance in the context of learning and skills, curriculum planning (adult learning), project management etc.
Outside of my working life I have also been a serving school governor. I have been a school governor for over 6 years and have responsibility for the Curriculum and Standards Committee.
I would really welcome the opportunity to join the college as it travels on its journey to outstanding.
Gill Banks, Principal & CEO
I’m Gill Banks and I am the Principal and CEO.
I have been involved in education since the 1990s starting first as a teacher before moving into management and leadership roles at colleges across the Liverpool City Region and further afield. In 2014, I joined Knowsley Community College as Deputy Principal then Principal before being appointed interim CEO at Coventry College. For the past three years I have worked at the City of Liverpool College as the Deputy Principal. Prior to my career in education I worked for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and in the Travel and Tourism sector.
Phil Jones, Vice Principal of Quality
I'm Phil Jones. I started working for the College as an Assistant Principal for STEAM and was appointed as Vice Principal for Quality in 2019. I am a big advocate for apprenticeships, having started my career as an Apprentice Engineer. After completing my apprenticeship, I gained 18 years experience in the commercial vehicle industry before going on to work in further education.
Chrisine Carter, Vice Principal of Curriculum
I'm Chris Carter. I started my journey with the College as a 17 year old student and later returned in 2006 to complete my Certificate in Education whilst volunteering within the Childcare and Early Years department. As a huge advocate for the College and the values that it represents, I have progressed from a teaching role into various management positions and have since become a Vice Principal in Curriculum.
Kevin Williams, Vice Principal of Finance
I’m Kevin Williams. I bring a wealth of experience as a senior leader across education, health, social care, housing and regeneration sectors. Since entering the field of further education in 2014, I have provided permanent and interim consultancy support in many FE colleges including as Finance Director/Vice Principal at Knowsley Community College, Wigan & Leigh College, Craven College and West London College, as well as Interim Principal at Harrogate College.
Ste Bailey, Assistant Principal of Student Support & Foundation Learning
I'm Ste Bailey. I have worked in further education for over 20 years, initially teaching English, maths and employability to students with learning difficulties and disabilities before moving into management. I have previously worked in various roles in the NHS and voluntary sector, supporting adults with mental health difficulties, learning disabilities and physicial disabilities. My current role focuses on leadership responsibilities in all aspects of student support, foundation learning, safeguarding and equality, diversity and inclusion. I am most passionate about removing barriers and improving people's life chances and wellbeing through education.
Lesley Venables, Clerk to the Governors
Lesley is the Governance Professional at the College and has been in post since 2017. With over 25 years’ experience of governance and its associated disciplines, gained in the education sector, she has provided advice and support to a number of public and private sector organisations, working with boards and senior management to improve standards, raise aspirations and design and implement good governance practices.
She established her own corporate governance consultancy in October 2014 and has been engaged by a wide range of education providers throughout the UK, including primary, secondary, multi-academy trusts, university technical colleges, free schools, further education, universities and an awarding body. Her career includes a number of turnaround situations, where her expertise has made a significant contribution.
In addition to her role at Wirral Met College Lesley is also the Head of Governance at Walsall College in the West Midlands.
She is professionally qualified in FE governance, is a qualified company secretary and member of the Chartered Governance Institute and Institute of Leadership & Management.
Ryan Morris, Adminisrator to the Governors
Ryan has a dual role as the Administrator to the Governors and Finance Assistant, whilst also studying towards his ACCA Chartered Accountancy Qualification.

Johanna is an llustrator and printmaker, with experience in self publishing and exhibition planning and curating. She runs The Crooked Neck Print Studio based out of Liverpool City Centre, where she creates bespoke artwork for clients as well as my own posters, books and art prints.
She has been at the helm of the Illustration Animation course for 5 years, integrating her own experience in the creative industries into the course itself. Working with students is a passion of Johanna's, and she enjoys seeing ideas grow into reality and encourage all of her students to use their creative talent to experiment and connect.

Johanna's screen printed works have recently been exhibited in Groningen in Netherlands for the European Poster Explosion, as well as at its sister event in Liverpool.
Self publishing and print making are a huge part of Johanna's practice and she is connected with artists across Europe who do the same thing.
Johanna has also tried her hand at making musical instruments in her spare time.

Janet Brandon graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1997 with a Degree in Contemporary Art. She has had a diverse career within the film and animation industry including production assistant on Shane Meadow's 'A Room for Romeo Brass', Co- Director of First Take Video Production and Assistant Animator at Aardman. She completed an MA in Animation at the University of West England in 2011 and continues freelance work alongside her teaching within her specialism of animated documentary. This includes projects such as 'Without These Walls' (exhibited Museum of Liverpool 2021). She is currently lecturing in Animation on the Illustration with Animation BA (hons) at Wirral Metropolitan College.

Amelia Jones, Student Governor
Amelia is in her second year at the College and is currently studying Level 3 Travel and Tourism.

Beth is a Curriculum Lead for Community Education at Wirral Met College with ten years of experience teaching students and creating a range of different courses. Beth has an MSc in Pyschological Trauma and specialises in Psychology and Mental Health, Beth uses her experience to create exciting new courses for different partner organisations within the community.
Joe is currently in his second year as a Biology lecturer at Wirral Met College. Joe teaches across a range of courses including Access to Nursing, Access Biomedical Science, Pre-access to Health and on the Psychology 2+2 degree course. Joe enjoys meeting new people in the community and teaching on courses such as digital skills. His interests include sport, creative writing, and cooking.
Michelle herself studied at Wirral Met on the 2+2 Psychology degree and the PGCE teacher training. She is now the programme lead for some of the access courses at Wirral Met College. Michelle has a bubbly personality and enjoys teaching courses in the community. Michelle has a number of years’ experience teaching Psychology and Mental Health and supporting students with their progression in education.
Harriet is level 2 programme lead at Wirral Met College with six years of experience teaching students. Harriet teaches a range of different courses related Psychology and Mental Health. Harriet uses her experience to create and deliver courses within the community in a relaxed and positive learning environment.
Jackie studied with Wirral Met herself, starting in the community on an introduction to psychology course then progressing onto the 2+2 psychology degree and finally progressing onto the PGCE teacher training. Jackie now enjoys teaching students in the community because this is where she started and enjoys seeing students’ progress. Her hobbies include taking her grandchildren out.

Daisy holds a degree in Psychology from Edge Hill University and a Masters degree in Forensic Psychology from Manchester Metropolitan University. Daisy currently teaches our Pyschology and Mental Health courses at Wirral Met. Daisy has a passion for Forensic Pscyhology and investigating why an offender offends. She is able to provide a different perspective on most topics for her learners, applying her knowledge to the offending population. Daisy is excited to share this knowledge with more people through our community education courses.
Nicole is the Community Education Administrator. She loves going out into the community, meeting new people, and supporting with guidance and enrolment on a range of different courses.
Johanna's background is as an illustrator/designer, printmaker, and teacher. She really enjoys delivering bespoke and interactive art workshops in the Birkenhead community on behalf of Wirral Met College. Johanna aims to tap into latent creativity and give people a voice through self-publishing, illustration and making. In the last year, Johanna has been sharing different techniques for creating artwork and encouraging people to share and discuss their ideas.
