This study programme is designed for students who are seeking to start a career in the Travel, Tourism, Aviation or Travel Retail Industry and those who may wish to progress to a higher level course on completion (depending on English/maths qualifications).

Course Details

This study programme provides students with a broad introduction to the Travel, Tourism and Aviation Industry. It meets the needs of the industry by providing potential employees with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to be effective entrants to the industry. This qualification also enables students to progress onto higher level qualifications. The course will cover the following topics.

  • Customer Service and Communication Skills in Travel & Tourism
  • Travel & Tourism Facilities in the UK
  • Hospitality in Travel & Tourism
  • Transport for UK Tourism
  • Promotional Material for travel & Tourism
  • Check-In to Aviation
  • Check-In to Cruise
  • Check-In to Overseas Resort Representative
  • Check-In to Retail Travel
  • Check-In to Tour Guiding
  • Work Experience and Employability
  • Mathematics and English
  • Entry Guidelines

    Priority will be given to those aged 16-18 years old. 3 GCSEs at 2/E or above or a relevant Entry Level qualification. Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

    Assessment Method

    Workbooks, role plays, assignments and practical sessions.

    Additional Information

    This course will include days out throughout the year.

    It is a vocational course and students will be expected to take part in all activities during the year. This course may require students to wear a uniform, further information will be given in due course.


    Are you aged 16-18?
    Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:

    • A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
    • Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
    • English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C (or Grade 4 or above) in English and maths
    • Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips
    Where can I progress to?

    This qualification can lead to progression onto NCFE level 2 in Cabin Crew and Aviation, NCFE level 2 International Travel Studies or into employment.

    This study programme will be FREE for most students who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, or students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.

    If you are aged 19 or over:

    Fee : £374.50

    This course is FREE if you are aged 19+, unemployed/in receipt of eligible benefits or in work earning less than £17,550 annual gross salary, and you do not have a level 3 qualification.

    The fee quoted is for the academic year 2019-20.
