If you would like to develop your personal skills working as part of a team within your local community then this is the course for you. The course will include outdoor pursuits, work placement opportunities and a residential leading towards a final presentation of your achievements.

Through building your confidence and motivation, you will be encouraged to think about your future. This includes working in a team to prepare a post-programme development plan and spending time developing interview and CV skills. We want you to develop your confidence ready for taking your next step.

  • During the 12 weeks team members:
  • Uncover hidden talents
  • Assume some responsibility for tasks
  • Develop team-working and communication skills
  • Gain awareness of their local community and how they can contribute to it
  • Complete voluntary work to give something back to your community
  • Undertake a range of fundraising activities to benefit an organisation in your community
  • Gain a nationally recognised qualification
  • Gain employability skills by completing a range of challenges in the community

  • Induction - week 1
  • Residential - week 2
  • Project in the community - weeks 3-6
  • Individual placements - weeks 7-8

Entry Guidelines

You need to be aged 16-25 to be eligible to join the Princes Trust team. There are no formal entry guidelines for this course. However, if you are unemployed and not engaged in education then you may benefit from participating on this programme. You can meet new people and gain new skills.

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Assessment Method

Throughout the programme students compile a portfolio of evidence of their achievement. Join Team, our 12-week personal development programme, for the chance to gain new skills, take a qualification and meet new people. When you come on board, you'll be challenged to:

  • Take on your own group community project, making a positive difference to the place where you live
  • Take part in an action packed residential trip
  • Gain two weeks work experience in something that interests you
  • Develop your English and maths skills
  • As part of the course, we also spend some time developing your interview and CV skills to ensure your confidence is imp[roved for your next step.
  • Additional Information

    Qualifications available: Princes Trust Team Certificate in Employment Team work and Community skills at either entry 3 or level 1 . There are 2 teams running each term: one team is based at Bromborough Fire Station in partnership with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service; the second team is based in Birkenhead at our Conway Park Campus. The course is completely free and wont affect your jobseekers allowance

    Where can I progress to?

    Further Education, Traineeships and Apprenticeships, Employment in various areas or Voluntary work. Nationally more than 70% of unemployed participants go on to jobs, training or education within three months of completing their Princes Trust Team .
