If you wish to develop a range of skills needed by employers then this is the course for you. You will work with other students to run an enterprise, developing your communication skills, numeracy and team working skills from which you can progress to a level 1 course. The course runs over three days and times may vary according to personal timetables.
Students will take part in work experience with the plan to gain employment further down their career path.

This is a one year course aimed at young adults/school leavers with additional support needs who apply online or are referred through school or Vocational Options.

The course runs for 3 days per week and in addition, students take part in work experience. A taster in a vocational area may be arranged to support your progression.
You will be encouraged to make choices, solve everyday problems and take responsibility for your actions so that you can develop your confidence, maturity and independence. In order to progress to a level 1 (or alternative) course or employment.
During the course:
- You will be encouraged to travel independently and attend a residential course.
- You will work towards your individual learning goals and by the end of the programme you will have the opportunity to achieve: The Skills for Working Life Certificate, C&G Adult Certificate in Literacy and Numeracy Entry 1, 2, or 3 or higher as well as College certificates for personal achievements.
There are no formal qualifications required, although you should be working at Entry Level 2-3 of the Adult Core Curriculum and have the skills to follow all Health and Safety rules in College.
You should show a commitment to develop your vocational skills, and have the potential to develop your communication, literacy and numeracy skills in a practical/vocational context. You should also be able to demonstrate E2 ICT skills in order to develop an E portfolio.
You will be expected to work as part of a team and take part in planning and problem solving and show commitment through attendance and participation.

All learners will be interviewed and complete a maths and English assessment.
We will offer you an initial interview and assessment to identify your needs and regular reviews and individual action plans will take place each term.
We encourage the involvement of your family and/or carers to help you to develop your confidence in everyday situations. You will be supported by a personal tutor, learning support worker and adapted materials, to meet individual learning needs.
At entry 3 level students will participate in an enterprise session e.g. Catering.
Learners at level 1 can currently participate in a Sports based programme at the Oval campus.
Are you aged 16-18?
Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C in English and maths
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips
Progression to vocational courses, Skills for Life and Work courses, training schemes or voluntary work.
Starting 1st September 2020 - Ending - 24th June 2021
If you are aged 16-18:
This study programme will be FREE for most students who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, or students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
If you are aged 19 or over:
The fee quoted is for the academic year 2020-21.
