Course Details

The course enables students with learning difficulties to achieve sustainable paid employment by equipping them with the skills they need for work through learning in the workplace.

Entry Guidelines

No formal qualifications required, although you should be working at Entry Level 2-3 of the Adult Core Curriculum and have the skills to follow all Health and Safety rules in college. You should show a commitment to develop your vocational skills, and have the potential to develop your communication, literacy and numeracy skills in a practical/vocational context. You will be expected to work as part of a team and take part in planning and problem solving and show commitment through attendance and participation. Selection by interview. If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Additional Information

All learners will be interviewed and complete a Maths and English assessment. We will offer you an initial interview and assessment to identify your needs and regular reviews and individual action plans will take place each term. We encourage the involvement of your family and/or carers to help you to develop your confidence in everyday situations. You will be supported by a personal tutor, learning support worker and adapted materials, to meet individual learning needs.

This course is FREE if you are aged 19+, unemployed/in receipt of eligible benefits or in work earning less than £15,736.50 annual gross salary, and you do not have a level 3 qualification. Please see our Fees and Discounts leaflet for details, or call 0151 551 7777.

The fee quoted is for the academic year 2019-20.
