An essential food hygiene qualification required for all people who are handling food i.e. food retailers, manufacturers, staff in hotels and restaurants.

Course Details

Within this course, awarded by RSPH (Royal Society for Public Health), the following units will be studied:

  • Microbiology
  • Food poisoning outbreaks and recent trends
  • Cleaning
  • Personal hygiene
  • Equipment & premises hygiene
  • Food handling and storage
  • Pests & vermin
  • Legislation

There is a multichoice examination to be taken at the end of the course. An essential qualification required for all people who are handling food i.e. food retailers, manufacturers, staff in hotels and restaurants.

Entry Guidelines

Applicants should have communication and comprehension skills, at level 1 as there is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Additional Information

Classes are offered every month in term time and require attendance for one day only 9am-4pm. Please contact Student Services to book your place for the day that you require. Please Note: Results and certificate can take up to 6-8 weeks to be issued by the provider.
