The RSPH Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness has been designed to help food handlers:
Within the course the following topics will be covered:
- Allergy and intolerance
- Food labelling
- Recognising hazards
- Cross-contamination
- Correct storage and handling
- Correct food preparation
- Information to be recorded
- Risk Assessment
The tutor will use a range of teaching methods during the course which will include the following; group work, formative assessment, discussion, question and answer sessions.
Applicants should have communication and comprehension skills, at entry level, as there is a multiple choice assessment at the end of the course.

Under the Food Information Regulations 2014, food business operators have a legal responsiblity to provide complete and correct food allergen information to customers. These regulations apply to all catering and retail businesses that serve or sell loose foods.
This qualification is aimed at everyone who prepares, serves or sells food in any type of food business.
