Year 1
NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care.
To provide learners with an in-depth knowledge of core subject areas in health and social care to support progression into Higher Education, the workplace or further learning in related subject areas at Level 4 and above.

Year 2
NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care.
To provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills essential to the health and social care sector, and to support progression into Higher Education or the workplace.

Year 2

  • UCAS application support
  • Guaranteed face to face interview with Chester University prior to the UCAS selection process.
  • NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Minimum 100 hours in placement (Total = 175 in 2 years)
  • English and maths skills study support
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Food Allergens Qualification
  • University style lectures and tasks all based at the university — Birkenhead Campus
  • Academic study skills — Chester University

Entry Guidelines

This is a study programme for students 16-18 years.

Relevant Level 2 qualification and English, Maths and Science at Grade 9-4/A*-C or a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4/A*-C including English, Maths and Science.

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Equipment Required

To learn effectively on your course you will need to use certain items of equipment and undertake particular activities as part of your studies. Assessment Method

Year 1

Learners will be required to attend placement in a real work environment to support their learning. The minimum required number of placement hours is 75 hours. Assessment Portfolio of evidence; one external assessment (HSC1).

Year 2

Learners will be required to attend placement in a real work environment to support their learning. The minimum required number of placement hours is 175 hours (100 hours if learners have already successfully completed the Certificate).

Upon achievement of this qualification, you will be able to progress to the Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care. The Certificate supports your access to Higher Education*, progression to further learning at Level 4 and above, and a wide range of job roles within the health and social care sector such as:

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.

If you are aged 19 or over:

If you are aged 19+ and living in the Liverpool City Region (inc Wirral), many courses will be free. If you are aged 19+ and live outside the Liverpool City Region, this course may be free. Terms & conditions apply.

If you are aged 19+, you may be able to apply for a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan (which is available for this course).
