Lead Adult Care Workers are the frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives. In addition, Lead Adult Care Workers have responsibility for providing supervision, frontline leadership, guidance and direction for others, or working autonomously, exercising judgement and accountability. Apprentices must undertake a programme of study in a suitable care setting and typical job titles include Care Officer, Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Social Work Assistant, Community Support Worker, Community Development Worker, These could all specialise in a variety of areas such as learning disability, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homecare, dementia and end-of-life care.
Knowledge, skills and behaviours covered include: â€¢ Main tasks and responsibilities (eg professional boudaries, duty of care) â€¢ The right values and behaviours (eg ensuring dignitiy, respecting diversity) â€¢ Supporting individuals to remain safe from harm (safeguarding) â€¢ Champion health and wellbeing for individuals â€¢ Working professionally and professional development of self and others â€¢ Communication
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services result to be provided prior to commencing apprenticeship Achievement of Level 2 English and maths would be beneficial
Access to a computer is necessary
An Electronic portfolio will be used for On programme assessment for completion of: â€¢ Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care â€¢ Completion of 15 standards as set out in the Care Certificate. â€¢ Self Assessment in preparation for End Point Assessment â€¢ Testimonies from service users In addtiion there will be an End Point Assessment consisting of: â€¢ Situational judgement test â€¢ Professional discussion
On completion of the apprenticeship, you may be able to progress to a higher level apprenticeship.
