This is a study programme which enables you to develop knowledge and skills for the Health and Social Care sector. You will learn by completing assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.

Course Details

This Diploma course is equivalent to four GCSEs (grade A* - C or grade 4 or above). Both are accredited at level 2 in the National Qualification Framework. Work placement for this qualification is a compulsory part of this course. All students will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosing and Barring Service check (DBS), certain convictions will prevent potential students completing essential parts of the course. This course will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the Health and Social Care sector. You will complete units including:

  • Communication in Health and Social Care.
  • Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Social Care.
  • Individual needs in Health and Social Care.
  • Entry Guidelines
  • This is a Study Programme for 16-18 year old students. Adults will be redirected to the Pre Access Health course.
  • 3 GCSEs minimum grade 3/D including maths and English or a relevant Level 1 qualification.
  • Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and reference.

  • Equipment Required

    To learn effectively on your course you will need to use certain items of equipment and undertake particular activities as part of your studies.     Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:

    • A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
    • Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
    • English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A* - C in English and maths
    • Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips
