This course will enable you to understand why people misuse drugs and alcohol, and the effect this has on vulnerable individuals and society as a whole.

Course Details

Over the programme you will learn about:

  • The effects of different drugs
  • Understand the harm caused by substance misuse
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of using drugs and alcohol
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of an overdose of drugs or alcohol
  • Identify the assumptions and stereotypes associated with substance misuse
Entry Guidelines

No previous training or experience is required, but a college interview prior to acceptance is compulsory.

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

Assessment Method

You will be assessed through written coursework and a Learning Log.
