The NEBOSH National General Certificate is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK with over 100,000 people having gained the qualification. It is suitable for managers, supervisors and staff from all types of organisations making day-to-day decisions at work that need a broad understanding of health and safety issues and be able to manage risks effectively.

Course Details

Unit NG2 comprises 7 elements:

  1. Physical and psychological health
  2. Musculoskeletal health
  3. Chemical and biological agents
  4. General workplace issues
  5. Work equipment
  6. Fire safety
  7. Electrical safety
Entry Guidelines

There are no specific barriers, in terms of academic qualifications, skills or experience to this course. Ideally you should have at least two years work experience in any area of work and have a level 2 English qualification or equivalent. The standard of English required by the candidates studying for this award must be such that they can both understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. If English is not your first language you should be qualified to IELTS 6.0 or higher.

Assessment Method

NG2 is assessed via a risk report based on the candidate's own workplace, marked externally by NEBOSH

Additional Information

Unit NG2 must be combined with NEBOSH Unit NG1 to gain the full NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. See separate leaflets for details. A Certificate award parchment is issued on completion of both Units.
