The Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Make-up) is a vocational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed beautician/make-up artist. This qualification has been specifically designed for the 16-18 age group (inc 19-23 with EHCP), and will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare learners for employment as a junior beautician/beauty specialist.
This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior beautician/beauty specialist including: applying make-up, instruction on make-up, the art of photographic make-up, client care, facial skin care and health and safety.
Relevant Level 1 qualification or minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above.
Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

You will need to purchase a uniform, which consists of black tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans) black T-shirt with pink makeup artist branding on the back, the cost will be approximately £20. You must wear black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home as the kit contains all you will need (approximate cost £85). This will be discussed at interview.
Work books, projects, practical observations, witness statements, audio & visual evidence, written and oral questions and 5 external award body exams
Reading & writing skills - You will need to produce written assignments.
Maths skills - You will need to measure products and work within specific timings.
This profession and course requires you to be able to carry out physical work for long periods of time. Reasonable adjustments will be made to accommodate disabilities.

Are you aged 16-18? Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A*-C in english and maths (grade 4 and above)
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips for this course.

This study programme will be FREE for most students who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, or students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
If you are aged 19 or over:
This course is FREE if you are - aged 19+ and live in the Liverpool City Region. If you are aged 19+ and live outside the Liverpool City Region, you are unemployed/in receipt of eligible benefits, or in work earning less than £17,004 annual gross salary, or you are aged 19-23 and have not already achieved a full level 2 qualification, this course is FREE.
