The purpose of this qualification is to develop your practical skills in the creative art of dressing hair and the imaginative application of photographic make-up. You will learn a variety of artistic techniques which will allow you to create a range of hairdressing and beauty designs using professional products and tools.
The aim of this qualification is to develop your skills in hairdressing and make-up application, providing you with the foundation for further learning and to enable you to perform your own salon services. Ideal for special occasions such as proms, weddings and the races. Please note that it is mandatory to complete awarding body COVID19 qualifications whilst studying a VTCT course. The exam registration fee is approximately £20.
There are no formal qualification for this course but you:
- Will need the skills for fine work e.g. accurate use of equipment e.g. make-up brushes
- Must be prepared to give and receive treatments to/from other students on your course
- Will need an ability to communicate one to one e.g. tutor or client and in a group as part of discussions
- A satisfactory interview, assessment and reference

Office use only. Non Standard 21.7.You will need to wear a uniform, which consists of black tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans) and a black branded T-shirt. The T Shirt with pink make-up artist branding on the back is £6.50. You must wear all black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home as the kit contains all you will need (approximate cost £142.53). This will be discussed at interview.
You will be assessed via observed work, witness statements, written and oral questions and external award body paper. You will need to provide your own models for assessment.
This is an adult only course
You can progress to L2 Beauty Therapy and/or Hairdressing, L3 Photographic make-up.
