Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care, massage and facial treatments. you will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide a variety of relaxing massage treatments using different techniques
During the course you will spend most of your time in the salon working on one another and models. You will study:
- Body massage
- Electrical facial treatments
- Aromatherapy
- Client care
- Hot Stones
- Indian Head massage
During your course there may be opportunities for attending National shows and exhibitions where you can see some of the main wholesalers and manufacturers of equipment and products.
- Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent
- You need the skills in co-ordination e.g. delivering body massage treatments.
- You must be prepared to give and receive treatments to/from other students on your course.
- Satisfactory interview, assessment and reference.

You will need to purchase a uniform, which consists of, grey tunic and matching tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans), the cost will be approximately £45. You must wear black closed in shoes. You do not need to buy a kit however, you will be required to bring your own hand band, mask brush and facial sponges for your practical lessons. This will be discussed at interview.
Assessments continue throughout the course both in practical and theory sessions. In addition there are VTCT exams.
Although not compulsory it is recommended that students gain experience in the industry during the course to further develop your skills. An interview for all candidates will be arranged with a member of the teaching team where you will have an opportunity to discuss the course and your individual needs. There will be an English assessment at this interview.
This profession and course requires you to be able to carry out physical work for long periods of time. Reasonable adjustments will be made to accommodate disabilities.
Prospects include being employed on a cruise liner, spa, television, cosmetic companies as a representative, plus many other areas including airlines or self-employment. Further Education opportunities include progression onto the VTCT sport massage.
