This qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of barbering and will develop an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a senior men's hairdresser. Learners will have their barbering skills assessed in a real or realistic working environment.

Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Barber (SRB) with The Hairdressing Council.

This qualification is approved and supported by the Hairdressing and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA).

Course Details

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an advanced men's hairdresser including: health and safety; client consultation; advanced cutting and; selling products and services to clients. These units are all mandatory.

Learners will further develop their understanding and skills by studying a number of optional specialist units which may include: hair colour correction; specialist scalp services and treatments; perming and colouring.

Entry Guidelines

Relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass or above or minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C (Grade 4 or above).

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Equipment Required

You will need to wear a uniform, which consists of black tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans) and a black branded T-shirt. The T Shirt with white barber branding on the back is £6.50. You must wear all black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home as the kit contains all you will need including PPE Apron cost of £239.40 which will be delivered to your home address delivery included. This will be discussed at interview.
