The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Cosmetic Makeup is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in how to apply make-up and instruction on make-up application. The course also includes an introduction to styling hair
The primary outcome of the qualification is to prepare you to enter the specific sector of beauty therapy as a beauty consultant. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a beauty consultant.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a beauty consultant including the mandatory units, applying make-up and instruction on make-up, client care and health and safety.
You will also have the opportunity to further develop your understanding and skills by studying specialist units which includes: providing eyelash and eyebrow treatments and styling hair.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of the skin, health and safety, client care and cosmetic products. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of make-up products using different techniques. You will practice styling hair using a variety of methods which are suitable for special occasions. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.
This course if for students aged 16-18 years old.
Relevant Level 1 qualification or minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above.
Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

You will need to purchase a uniform, which consists of black tailored trousers (no leggings or jeans) black T-shirt with pink makeup artist branding on the back, the cost will be approximately £20. You must wear black closed in shoes. You will also be required to buy a kit so you can practice your skills at home as the kit contains all you will need (approximate cost £141.43). This will be discussed at interview.

Are you aged 16-18?
Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A*-C in English and maths (grade 4 and above)
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips.
