English courses at this level are FREE.
You will take part in various activities including individual, paired and whole group activities that will help develop your English skills. You will have your own plan of work which you will discuss with your tutor. You will be in a small, friendly group.
Courses cover a range of topics. The course aims to help you to gain a good grasp of spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills which aims to improve your writing. You will work on developing your confidence with reading and responding to a range of materials. You will also work to develop speaking and listening skills and obtain a national qualification.
To join a course, you first need to complete an assessment to determine the correct level for you.
You don't need any qualifications but you do need skills equivalent to Entry Level 2 or above to be able to access these courses. Your initial assessment will show what your correct skills level is.

You will work towards a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification or a College Certificate
To be successful on this course you need to:
Arrive on time
Attend each week
Work with others
Complete homework and bring to the next session
Attend the exam
You may be able to progress on to the next level course or a range of other courses that require communication skills.
Returning students would need to be able to demonstrate improvement in their skills in order to progress to the next level.
