The T Level Transition Programme in Engineering and Manufacturing is intended for those who are intending to progress on to a T Level in the coming year but do not yet meet requirements to join. This course provides a firm foundation to progress on to the T Level in Engineering Manufacturing, Processing and Control.

You will learn a wide range of engineering skills and techniques, which will give you a head start into a successful career in engineering.

Learners will be able to demonstrate three outcomes within the qualification by the end of the programme:

  1. Propose design solutions to meet specifications
  2. Apply practical skills to produce engineering products
  3. Solve problems with innovate engineering ideas

In addition, you will gain valuable insight to industry practice and carry out work placements with engineering companies.

This transition programme is perfect for anyone, who is looking to progress on to a T Level in Engineering and Manufacturing.

Course Details

The T Level Transition Programme in Engineering and Manufacturing will prepare you for the T Level in Engineering Manufacturing, Processing and Control.

As part of the course, you will focus on gaining the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed within the engineering industry as well as learning the following specialist units:

  • Working in an Engineering Environment
  • Engineering Techniques
  • Fabrication and Welding Principles
  • Manuel Welding Techniques

You will carry out work placement with an engineering company to develop and enhance your technical and employability skills.

Furthermore, you will continue to develop your Maths and English skills which will equip you with the foundations to progress onto our T level programme.

Entry Guidelines

This is a Study Programme for those aged 16-18 years of age.

Relevant Level 1 qualification or minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above and Grade 4 or above in English.

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Equipment Required

PPE is required: Steel cap boots, flame retardant overalls, workshop gloves, welding masks

Assessment Method

100% internal assessments.

Students are required to complete and pass all components to achieve their qualification.

Additional Information

You will learn the fundamentals in developing skills to undertake a T level. This will involve hand skills, using a range of machines to help with manufacturing, along with health and safety in the workplace and understanding how to communicate with others. You will also develop your maths, English and digital skills along with the behaviours required to undertake a T level or gain employment.

Where can I progress to?

Students who achieve this qualification can progress onto the T Level Engineering, Manufacturing and Processing programme.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
