This is an accredited Level 3 unit focussing on the underpinning concepts and implications of programming to design, develop and test computer programmes. The course content will include:
- Examination of the computational thinking skills and principles of computer programming.
- Design of a software solution to meet client requirements.

This is an accredited Level 3 unit focussing on the underpinning concepts and implications of programming to design, develop and test computer programmes. The course content will include:
- Examination of the computational thinking skills and principles of computer programming.
- Design of a software solution to meet client requirements.
- Development of a software solution to meet client requirements. The course will run for one day per week (6 hours per day) for a total of 12 weeks. The course will be delivered face to face initially with blended elements later in the course. The skills developed on this course will allow an individual to apply for junior programming roles or further develop their skills in Level 4 programming (dependent on additional prior qualifications).
Relevant Level 2 qualification at Pass or above or minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C (Grade 4 or above). Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference. Study programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:
- A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
- Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
- English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade 9-4 (A*-C) in english and maths (grade 4 and above)
- Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips.
