With a more comprehensive structure, our Diploma in Management and Leadership is taught by industry professionals and provides all the key skills and competencies you'll need to become an effective manager. This course is an invaluable vehicle for individual and career enhancement. Students are expected to spend four or five hours per week in private study or assessment preparation.

Course Details

The following eight modules will be covered:

  • Principles of management and leadership in an organisational context
  • Managing performance
  • Principles of delivering coaching and mentoring
  • Managing stakeholder relationships
  • Principles of recruiting, selecting and retaining talent
  • Managing finance
  • Managing data and information
  • Using reflective practice to inform personal and professional development

You will study alongside like-minded people in classes delivered by friendly supportive tutors.

Entry Guidelines
Entry onto this programme will depend upon your previous experience, qualifications and whether or not you are currently working in a management position. You will need either a level 3 qualification in an appropriate discipline or substantial relevant work/voluntary experience to be accepted for this course. If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

No specific equipment is required.

Assessment Method

Classes will be delivered face-to-face, enhanced by additional online resources and tutor support. All units will be assessed by way of coursework, enabling students to apply their learning directly to their experiences in the workplace. Coursework may include written assignments, presentations, reflections and reports.

Additional Information

The qualifications have been designed for practising or aspiring managers in roles such as: Operations Manager Divisional Manager Departmental Manager Regional Manager Specialist Manager The course is designed to use the experience of students to enrich the learning and to allow students to apply the learning from the course directly to their own experience in the workplace. Delivered part-time, using a mix of face-to-face and online learning, the course is designed to fit around the commitments of full-time employment.

Where can I progress to?

The CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership will provide students with the knowledge and skills to develop their career in management and progress to senior roles. Students may already be in a junior or middle management role, or their may aspire to develop their career in that way. Students will have Affiliate Membership of the CMI for the duration of their studies, with the opportunity to continue this individually after the course.
