An operations/departmental manager is generally someone who is able to manage teams and/or projects, and has responsibility for planning, delivering and achieving departmental goals and objectives. They are responsible for the operational and/or policy delivery of the organisation's strategy. This apprenticeship has been designed to provide access to development opportunities for as wide a range of individuals as possible. This includes individuals who are at the start of their career and who wish to take their first steps into professional management, as well as those who may already have developed practical experience but who wish to develop their theoretical understanding of management skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours covered throughout the apprenticeship will include:

Typically you will have five GCSEs at Grade C or higher.
You must be employed in a role which allows you to demonstrate the full range of knowledge, skills and behaviours in the standard for Operations/Departmental Managers

Access to a pc/laptop for access to the electronic portfolio and, for example, preparing assignments and projects.
On programme assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviours through portfolio and work based project, 360o feedback. Completion and achievement of on programme assessment will be followed by an independently assessed synoptic, end point assessment. This will include scenarios, assessment of portfolio evidence with interview and presentation of work based project approach/findings with Q & A and a professional discussion on CPD log/activity.
You are required to register with ILM for access to management resources and CPD activities. Your progress will be tracked through an electronic portfolio. You should spend at least 20% of your working time gaining new knowledge and skills through eg shadowing colleagues, mentor meetings, attending planned day release sessions, researching, writing assignments
On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years' of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI
